Spring Term 2010
Welcome to the website of St. Monica's Church in Wales Primary School.
We still have places available in some classes, especially in the Juniors. Prospective families are always extremely welcome to come and visit the school. Application forms and a copy of the prospectus are available from the office. Places are available for an immediate start, even on the same day if required, as we manage our own admissions.
We are able to offer:
A strong Christian ethos
Highly qualified, experienced staff
High adult:pupil ratios
High standards of behaviour
A welcoming, warm, safe atmosphere in which to learn
A beautiful, recently refurbished building
Interactive whiteboards in every classroom
A high level of security for your child
Wide range of extra-curricular activities
Excellent wrap-around care, including an after school club, open until 6pm Monday - Friday and a breakfast club on the school site from 8.30am daily
ESTYN Inspection 2006: St. Monica’s is a good school with several outstanding features. Pupils’ behaviour and their attitudes to learning are consistently good. The school is a very happy, caring and supportive community where all pupils are valued equally.
We are all very proud of our school and what our children achieve. We hope that you will visit us soon!
Mrs E. Beynon
Headteacher.

Day 2 of Osmington Trip |
|
Posted by: headteacher on 28/06/2009 11:05
|
| Yesterday's activities went very well and the weather has been absolutely beautiful - really sunny and hot. After the beach walk the children had tea and then played lots of games with the group leaders. I think they were exhausted after all that! This morning they had a nice breakfast and went off to do fencing. Later on they will be doing trampolining, and this afternoon they will be going for a 3 hour mountain bike session. There is a disco tonight as well. All very exciting! A good time is being had by all. |

Children in Need and Operation Christmas Child |
|
Posted by: headteacher on 19/11/2008 09:39
|
We raised £120 for Children in Need last Friday - thank you to all those who wore jeans for the day and donated money, and also to everyone who supported the cake sale by making or buying cakes. There was a well done message for us from Pudsey on the BBC at about 11.45pm last Friday night!
Also thank you to everyone who put presents in a shoebox for a child who would otherwise not receive a single Christmas present this year. Reverend Caroline was really pleased with the number that we collected and they were all taken away in an enormous lorry on Monday morning. I am sure that they will help many children to have a much happier time at Christmas this year.
Thank you all for your generosity and kindness.
Mrs Beynon.

St. John's Tearoom |
|
Posted by: headteacher on 08/10/2008 01:51
|
If you are in Cardiff on a Monday, pop in to the St. John's Tearoom (by The Hayes) for a cup of tea or some lunch. Proceeds go to St. Monica's on Mondays!
We would also be very grateful for any donations of things that we can use in the tearooms eg packets of ham or cheese, cakes etc. Please bring these on a Monday morning.
We are also looking for more volunteers to help in the tearooms. If you are able to give an hour or so of your time occasionally on a Monday, we would be extremely grateful. Please see Mrs Beynon if you are interested. |

St. Monica's School Meal competition |
|
Posted by: headteacher on 16/05/2008 10:52
|
| We recently held a whole school competition where the children had to design a 2-course, healthy school meal. We had an extremely difficult time judging the designs and selecting winners as all the entries were of such a high standard. The overall winner's design will be produced in the kitchen next Friday for all the children to enjoy. The other winners will also have their menus produced as part of the normal school dinners on consecutive Mondays after half-term. Please look in the gallery for photos of all the winners! |

I am looking forward to hearing all about their adventures next week. Thank you to Mrs Dacey, Miss Phillips and Miss Gubby for ensuring that the children had a wonderful time. |
